Overall =   Played 82   Won 39   Drawn 6 Lost 37

U8/U9 Tag Rugby and Hockey

The U8 and U9’s have made great progress this term and taken part in tag rugby and hockey fixtures against other schools. For some of them, this has been their first taste of competition action and they have enjoyed scoring goals and tries in addition to learning about positions and the rules of the respective sports. We are looking forward to seeing them in action on the football pitch next term and continuing to take great pleasure from representing Bramdean School.

U11 Rugby:

The under 11’s have played an exciting brand of running rugby this season which has led to some outstanding team performances. Having made real progress over the last two years, and with the injection of some new faces, the expectation levels were high going into the first game and they didn’t disappoint. The first game of the season, away at Exeter Cathedral, ended with a 60-5 victory. The team built on each performance throughout the term, developing a fast paced offloading game and a solid defence.

Individual players have also started to shine. Ayotemide Adeleye has scored some fantastic tries, leaving defenders in his wake with some barnstorming runs in open play. Elliot Butterfield, a turnover specialist, has made tackles for fun and Mason Dart is developing into a good ball carrying forward. Harry Gulley has continued to decimate defences with his power and passion and Max Smith has gone from strength to strength.

The most memorable game of the season took place at Exeter School in what was a really hard-hitting contest. Bramdean started the game well but found themselves 10-0 down at half-time. However, the team showed a spirited forward effort mixed with dogged determination to come back and secure a 15-15 draw. The spirit of the team that day was synonymous of the term and the commitment and physical presence displayed was exceptional.

We would like to take this opportunity to congratulate all the players of their progression this year. They’ve been a joy to teach with a fantastic attitude of wanting to improve and togetherness. They will be an exciting prospect in the future and we have no doubt that they will be a unit that the opposition will fear to play. In particular, working on their fitness, core skills and work at the breakdown will be paramount for their future successes.

U13 Rugby

It’s been an encouraging season for the under 13 team. The players, albeit small in stature, have worked incredibly hard and started to show great promise with their skill development and tactical appreciation.

Tries have been something we have been good at this year. It was brilliant to see Jarvis Jones, our speedy and elusive winger score regularly alongside the gliding Danny Carroll, agile Cody Lester and destructive Lucas Gulley. Peter Denning and Frankie Follett have also grown in stature and become key decision makers of the team.

The final match of the season against Trinity School was testament to the enthusiasm, determination and enjoyment that this group have for the game. They worked exceptionally hard for one another and played some scintillating rugby to run out 75-15 winners.

The boys are to be commended for their excellent attitude; they’ve always played the game in the right spirit as personi ed by the captain Lucas Gulley who was outstanding all season. He has led the team with humility and set an example both on and of the field.

We expect even better things to come from this group next year!
